Songs About Babies

I feel uniquely qualified to talk about babies. Mainly because I used to be one.

Have you ever had that thing where you buy a new car and EVERYONE else on the road seems to be driving the same model? I had a similar thing recently. Instead of seeing lots of Ford Focuses, I noticed that I was listening to a lot of songs where the artists sing about children.

If we were making a Venn Diagram of songs that are good and songs that are about small people, these ones would be slap-bang in the middle.

Here are my favourites, along with the bits which will make you ugly cry.

Ben Folds – Gracie

Lines That Will Make You Ugly Cry

You nodded off in my arms watching TV

I won’t move you an inch even though my arm’s asleep

Frank Turner – Song for Eva Mae

https://youtu.be/3Cw8pBCDzV4

Lines That Will Make You Ugly Cry

You should keep your friends and family close

And always always always try to say ‘yes’

That we can none of us ever be perfect

But Eva darling we can try our best

Andrew McMahon – Cecilia and the Satellite

https://youtu.be/G_zY_jSVXSU

Lines That Will Make You Ugly Cry

For all the things my hands have held

The best by far is you

Sean Rowe – Follow Your Trail

https://youtu.be/vd7VqA0ZA-U

Lines That Will Make You Ugly Cry

I never knew a friend could be so small

And have a heart just as big as the moon

You know I can’t stop you from growin’ up

I just wish that it wasn’t so soon

Macklemore – Growing Up

https://youtu.be/6mhtJduoCZ0

Lines That Will Make You Ugly Cry

Go to festivals, camp, fall in love and dance

You’re only young once, my loved one, this is your chance

Will Smith – Just The Two Of Us

Lines That Will Make You Ugly Cry

LITERALLY ALL OF THEM. OBVIOUSLY.
